Louisiana Watershed Initiative Region 4

LWI Region 4

Project Summary

Provided comprehensive communications and stakeholder coordination services for Louisiana Watershed Initiative Region 4 in Lake Charles, facilitating collaboration between federal, state, and local agencies on critical floodplain management responsibilities. Our role encompassed both internal agency communications and public outreach initiatives designed to build consensus around regional flood mitigation strategies and policy development.

Our Approach

We managed Regional Steering Committee meetings while simultaneously developing foundational data systems, project documentation, and policy guidance for the multi-jurisdictional initiative. Our integrated approach included targeted community engagement with residents, key stakeholders, and elected officials, supported by custom website development and maintenance that served as the central information hub for regional watershed management efforts and public transparency.

the result

Region 4 emerged with a more coordinated, transparent, and trusted watershed planning process, supported by clear communication channels and consistent stakeholder engagement. Regional Steering Committee members, agency partners, and local officials had shared tools, data, and documentation to guide decisions, while residents gained easier access to information and opportunities for input through the public-facing website and outreach efforts. Together, these elements helped build alignment around flood mitigation priorities, strengthened regional collaboration, and laid a stronger foundation for long-term watershed and floodplain management across Southwest Louisiana.
